Fall Workshop 2009

On Saturday October 3, 2009 Tanya Bénard will be presenting a workshop on the "Alexander Technique" from 9:30 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. (coffee and refreshments will be served).

The Alexander Technique is an educational approach that helps people become aware of and trasform patterns of excess tension and strain.  Often thought of as a means of improving posture, the Technique helps people meet the challenges of everyday life as well as musical performance with greater ease and freedom.

The Technique is taught at the Juilliard School of Performing Arts in New York, the Royal College fo Music in London, the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, as well as many other schools of music around the world.

Non-Members: $25.00
Students/Seniors: $10.00


Tanya Bénard is a Certified Teacher and member of the Canadian Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique.  In addition to maintaining a private practice in Toronto, she teaches the Technique at the Royal Conservatory of Music and will be a guest faculty member at the Glenn Gould School for the 2009-2010 term.

Fall Workshop 2008

On October 4, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. there was a workshop featuring "Music and Technology. We looked at utilizing free "Open Source" software to record with a USB Microphone to your computer/laptop and exporting the file to your iPod/MP3 player.

Joni Henson Profile

Winner of this years Walk of Fame nomination in Sault Ste. Marie.   Joni has been highlighted on the National and International musical scene and recognized by the Prime Minister of Canada upon winning the Opera Grand Prize at the XVth Concours International de Chant de Verviers in Belgium (Placed 1st out of 70 competitors) and first place (out of 139 competitors) at the Councours International de Chant de Marmande in France.  Joni was also chosen as one of ten of Canada's top opera singers to perform in the Luna Festival Opera Gala at Toronto's Roy Thompson Hall.
